Q. Why do plumbers charge what they do?
A. For starters, medical, income protection and liability insurance are hidden costs that are a part of running any business. In addition, the cost of materials, transportation costs, and the time to travel between jobs are factors that have to be considered. At Soltwisch Plumbing, we care about paying our employees a fair salary because it is the right thing to do. Our plumbers are all highly trained and top notch. The fact is, you always get what you pay for.
You might be able to find a discount plumber in the local shopper, but no price is a good price if you are not happy with the result. And plumbing errors can be costly, even disastrous, down the road.
I know someone who payed a discount plumber to install a shower about 6 or 7 years ago. Almost immediately they had problems. The shower started rotting from the bottom up. Finally, they called on us, and we discovered that the plumber had not put a overflow pan under the shower. The entire bathroom had to be ripped out and redone, and the adjoining wall in their office needed new drywall because it had rotted through.
